March 2008

  • Received from Afghanistan 30th March 2008

Thank you so very much for your kind gift. Your generosity, best wishes and gratitude is very much appreciated.

Life in Afghanistan is testing as you will have seen from the television coverage that the Army and marines gave been receiving. The boys and girls who are working in very difficult conditions look forward to and appreciate everyone's kindness.

Whilst the gifts' are both delicious and lovely to receive ,what matters more to each and every soldier in the forward operating bases in Helmand and elsewhere is that their efforts are appreciated and recognised.

Thank you to each and every one of you for the kindness and consideration.

    Stay well and God Bless

    Yours Faithfully,
    Major F,
    Afghanistan

I would like to thank you all for your kind card which was received a few days ago. It was very thoughtful of you to think of us all out here in Afghanistan and your card was greatly appreciated.

I am a Royal Naval Officer working alongside the Army and Royal Air Force in Kandahar, Afghanistan, and not far from the area of Helmand, which includes soldiers and of the course the Marines too.

The weather is now very warm, over 30c. Although we are looked after her in Afghanistan and the boys and girls are doing a sterling job, your card was most welcome and it was heartening to know people such as yourselves are thinking of us.

We wish you all the very best for 2008 and hope you enjoy the spring time with all the colour it brings.

From all of us in Afghanistan,
    Brian

  • Received 28th March 2008 from Afghanistan

I am writing to thank you for the kind gift you sent. It was very much appreciated and put a smile on quite a few faces!

I am in the Royal Air Force and serving in Kandahar with the Army and some Navy personnel. I will be here until June 2008. Kandahar is very hot and dusty, but I will leave for home before it gets too hot.

Thank you for your generosity and kindness. I hope this letter gets to you ok.

    Yours Gratefully,
Laura and all the others in Kandahar that benefited from your gifts.

  • Received from Iraq 26th March 2008

I just thought I'd send a quick note to say thank you for your kind box of goodies!

It was shared out between a few of the lads working with the Air Movements SQN Basra. We are very grateful for gifts like these & it is uplifting to know some people back home are thinking about us.

There are quite a few very eager rugby players out here including myself! Luckily your book on rules will help us settle a few arguments about the 6 nations. Funnily enough I am watching a game as I write this letter.

Just a little about myself so you know who received your package. I am SAC (name supplied), Royal Air Force, working with Air Movs. Luckily I am homeward bound on 25th March but am off to Afghanistan just four weeks after returning from Iraq.

Once again thank you very much, as I said at the beginning its nice to know, especially at the moment with lots of negative press that some people back home support us.

Thank you again, Thank the Forces are doing a great job!
