Thank The Forces Community Cabin Opens in Hailsham, East Sussex

Thank The Forces Community Cabin was opened in Hailsham, East Sussex on Saturday the 27th March 2010.
Mr Mike Weller, a British Forces Veteran and Chairman of the Hailsham branch of the Royal British Legion, cut the ribbon red, white and blue ribbons and declared the shop open for business.
The 1066 pipe and drums band played a selection of tunes to celebrate the launch of this new venture for Thank The Forces Charity

Located in North Street, Hailsham (opposite Tesco) the Community Cabin features a retail shop where the general public can buy good quality new and second-hand household goods, books, toys and clothing. Everyone will be offered a warm welcome and a chance to browse the items for sale or just call in for a chat and buy a cup of tea.

British Servicemen and women past and present will be offered a free cup of tea when they visit as a small token of thanks and gratitude for their service to the nation.

Stock for sale in the Cabin also includes new fleeces, t-shirts, badges and wristbands emblazoned with the Thank the Forces logo.
The Cabin also offers British Forces service personnel past and present the facility to obtain advice information and practical help on many issues that may be affecting their lives.
If a British Forces veteran is homeless Thank The Forces can offer emergency housing with rent paid for a period of time. If specialist equipment is needed Thank The Forces will assist with funding. If you are a Veteran or Forces Person, please feel free to ask for information, advice or help (in confidence)
Forces families and friends will be offered the opportunity to sit and relax in a friendly informal atmosphere where likeminded people can understand the feelings of loneliness when a loved one is serving abroad with the British Forces.

Thank The Forces Community cabin is staffed solely by unpaid volunteers who give their time freely to organise, tidy, clean and serve customers in the Cabin.
